How Important Are Domain Names?
The domain name may seem like a long-term heroics that have meaning only to the computer wizards and for those who spend day and night on their computers. The truth is that the domain name is simply a strange term refers to the address of a website.
To make it simple, domain names are very important for websites in the same way that names are important to people. Can you imagine the people who handled or called using a series of pin number instead of their names? Given the name it has been a problem for most people so you can only imagine how it would be chaotic if people do not have names but only numbers.
This works the same way with the websites that are handled by using the domain name rather than a series of numbers is often referred to as an IP address. Like most numbers, IP addresses can be difficult to remember and those who mean the new permanent IP address for a new web hosting company.
While the IP address is a series of difficult to remember numbers, domain names are something that can be given a character and can be easily remembered. Try to browse the internet and if you want to know the domain name of the site being viewed, look at the browser bar.
The last word or string of letters after the domain name is the domain extension where the website address listed. Com domain extension is an example that refers to the org, the commercial domain which refers to the domain of non-profit and even non-existent or fr which stands for France or Norway, and which refers to the country domain. The domain extension is usually preceded by a period which is read as a point.
Both the name of the website, which I called sub domains and domain extensions make full domain name of a site. People who are abut to register domain names they should think carefully about the name because domain names are unique and that is what gives the site its unique characteristics. Domain names are unique because they are controlled in a centralized database.
Having your own domain name does not come for free because it comes with registration payment. By registering your domain name, you get the exclusive right to use the domain name but only for a certain number of years depending on the policy of the company where you purchased your domain name. When that period ends and you want to continue using the domain name then you can renew your contract.
When choosing your domain name, you can use a maximum of 67 characters consisting of letters from A to Z or numbers from zero to nine or a mixture of both numbers and letters and hyphens. Maximum 67 characters are included both sub domain name and domain name extension. SO if you want to have a recall website is easy then you better start thinking about smart domain name, key is to make your catchy domain name, easy to remember and more or less give the user an idea of what the website is all about.
However, you can register domain name even if you do not have a website. On the other hand, domain name registration does not carry with it the web site. While some companies offer free web hosting domain register, you can register your domain name with them and choose from various web hosting companies.
Never try to register a domain name containing a trademark or name already belongs to another, unless you want prosecuted as a cybersquatter.
